A 5-minute meditation for overwhelm

Reset your nervous system between school runs, meetings, and meals — no app, no incense required.

Overwhelm isn't weakness — it's a full nervous system asking for a pause. Here's a 5-minute reset you can do anywhere, even sitting on the kitchen floor.

Minute 1 — Arrive

Sit comfortably. Feel your feet on the floor. Notice three sounds around you without judging them.

Minutes 2-3 — Breathe long

Inhale for 4 counts, exhale for 6. The longer exhale signals safety to your body.

Do this 8-10 times.

Minute 4 — Soften

Notice your jaw, shoulders, and belly. Let each one drop a little.

Minute 5 — Set one intention

Pick one word for the next hour: patient, gentle, present. That's it.

Takeaway

You don't need a perfect setting — you need a small, repeatable signal that you're safe. Five minutes counts.
